PowToon Part 2
During my AQ class, my instructor talked about how we as teachers should be allowing students to be the ones to discover new technology and teacher's role becoming one of support. So, I thought I would try it out with PowToon (a new resource I was introduced to). Over the weekend, I asked one of my friend's kids (entering grade two this September) to use this new program that I found on the internet. She agreed, so I introduced her to the website and then left her to explore. I thought she would get frustrated or ask a lot of questions about what she would like me to do but rather to my surprise she handle it like a pro. She got right down to work and only asked for help when she was unable to manipulate the mouse. She never got frustrated, or gave up or asked a million questions like I did and most importantly she never asked for directions, she just created. It was amazing to watch how comfortable she was and I learned so much about young students and technology in this little tiny experience. Here is what she created in about 30 minutes with her little hands, super impressed!
